Blindness: describes the lack of visual images on radio. Radio needs to compensated because hearing come second. By the use of signposts and framing, constant statement about what is happening and where and what will happen next, sound/music to identify the radio station and the start/ end of the programme/ format/ genre. Bbc has a specifc new s sounds during each program while kiss 92. 5 uses something more pop and fun. The strengthen is in the imagination created by the listener which creates a courtship with the presenter. Radio uses a full range of emotions and feelings with the imagination. Codes> the cateories of sound identifiable in radio output and these are speech, music, noise, Silence of a (cid:373)ediu(cid:373) does(cid:374)"t (cid:373)ea(cid:374) it lacks so(cid:373)ethi(cid:374)gs. Therefore, radio is not blind but rather invisible and silence. Radio has a disadva(cid:374)tage i(cid:374) ter(cid:373)s of codes usi(cid:374)g just sound as they could mean different thing depending the context.
