CRI 600 Lecture Notes - Lecture 18: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Document Summary
The sequences of stages that take place between the client and the agency. In order for an invention to be called creative, it must carry out the task for which it was designed. Csikszentmihalyi (e. g. , 1988, 1996,1999) has presented a detailed analysis of how novelty and value are both relevant to creativity. 3 components play a role in making any product creative: individual + domain + field. At some point, the individual makes a novel contribution to the domain. In each of those areas, if the members of the field decide that an innovation is not of interest, then it may never see the light of day, and it will have no effect on the domain. In csikszentmihalyi"s (1988) view, the term creative should only be used to describe a product that goes through the whole cycle. systems theories take a very broad and often quite qualitative contextual view of creativity.
