Why registries and/or notifications don"t work of these behaviours. Recidivism rates are only around 8-10% for sex offenders. No effect really of these registries they don"t change the behaviours nor frequencies. Recidivism rates tend to be low already. One study from the u. s looked at people convicted of different offences. They were tracked for about 5 years. The most prolific offences that came back into the system were the offenders that were charged with robbery. Really rare a stranger is going to pick up a kid, so likelihood for registry to prevent. Sex offenders tend to have lower recidivism rates compared to other offenders. Long term relationship where there has been trust. So if there is a history and you know who the offender is then the registry and public. Cant live within 1000 ft of the school etc. so this is running on a proximity thing that.
