Us detained him for 10 days to not enter us but be deported to either canada or syria. He expressed the fear of torture in syria and insisted he has family in canada. He eventually returned to canada, never charged criminally and launched a civil suit, and received 10 million dollars. This also led to significant public inquiry by justice o"connor. There is evidence that rcmp provided false (inaccurate and prejudicial) information to us officials. Also rcmp violated protocol by not attaching conditions to how the info will be used.
