The moment where the criminal justice system can"t confine you any longer. Most people begin the process of parole earlier: parole is a privellege not a right. Organized by federal government that sets out conditions on how people are released into society. Temporary absences people can apply fairly early on. They are able to leave for a day or two to seek medical care, go to a funeral, go to wedding ect. Depending on the situation, this is the first taste of parole. People have cases heard in front of parole board. You eligibility begins after you"ve served 1/3 of your sentence or 7 years, depending on which is shorter. Parole officers, depending on the severity of their case, supervise people. Offenders can begin to apply for day parole after six months. Having to be in touch with parole officer. Evaluates each case and helps prepare the prisoner for managed re-entry. They are in charge of release plans.
