Assume men and women are the same and commit the same crimes for the same reasons. Argument that men and women behave in similar kinds of ways and the gender gap and crime rate is a reflection of how society responds to this behaviour. Women commit offences as often as men, but they are less likely to get caught. Because of the greater equality between men and women we should be seeing less of an impact of that chivalry n. We should be seeing less of the reactions to the gender roles. The more we legally define women as equal to men we should see the crime rate equalize, and the gap should be getting smaller. Role convergence theory because the roles of men and women in society are becoming similar. As women are more gaining higher employment, they"re more often able to commit white collared crimes should be seeing equalized crime rates.
