Child: younger then 12 years (no disclosure no publicity if it"s a child) Replaced the youth and criminal jusice act in 2003. 3 major objecives: to protect publics safety, to hold young ofenders accountable for their behavior, to provide treatment and rehabilitaion to youth. Decade: fewer youth charged, fewer custody sentences, more youth diverted from court systems, extra judicial . Conferences (treatment plan: anyone can call upon a conference. Sentence and custody is followed by period of rehabilitaion. Diference between youth and adult jusice: child gets privacy, child gets a right for people of the community not to atend case.
