Times in history where children are seen as evil, or born pure and society makes them evil, and a mix of both (today), based on economy, cultures, societal views and ideals unfit they are killed. Sparta: family was less important, strength/athletics important in both genders, if child is. Greece: education focused, children under 7 couldn"t learn therefore weren"t as. Christianity in rome: foster homes, adoption, keeping families together, more compassion, however still infanticide. Dark ages: family important as a source of labor, money more important, however church tried to ban child marriages and infanticide but instead simply limited it. Middle ages: no childhood, integrated with adults, seen as evil (especially after 7) Renaissance: children belonged to extended family, children could be kicked out if they weren"t contributing, young children sent away until 2 to focus on business. Late 19th/early 20th century: child saving movement, innocents but some saw them as compulsory education to stop labor exploitation, (cid:498)adoption(cid:499) = farm labor.
