Study 4 children are out of touch with reality. Group of 11 kids describe as being own little world. 40s-70s: not super common 4 or 5 kids out of 10 000. 80s and 90s: 1/200 kids get autism diagnosis. Seems to be 5 times more common in boys than girls. Each child with autism is unique but seem to be general patterns. Each child is unique that makes programming and support really complicated. Rett"s disorder (cid:894)x li(cid:374)k (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause it o(cid:374)ly happe(cid:374)s for girls(cid:895) 80% children with autism have a significant delay (has iq fall under score of 80) Different disorder similar things fall together under the umbrella spectrum of autism: neurological disorder. Some ideas (eg: digestive system affecting brain development) Theo kanner came up with the idea of refrigerator mother. Psychologist bring kids to table and has a box of smarties. Classic study: smarties but there are pencils in there instead.
