Document Summary

Two septette mechanisms function together to protect us from disease(pathogenic) Also associated with a stage of altered reactivity to bacterial or foreign material leading to intense in ammatory reaction called hypersensitivity response. An individual that has hypersensitivity to an organism its products have some type of immunity as well. Person can develop an immune response against foreign antigens (non-self antigens) because of the body developing a tolerance to the self antigen present in individual cells and tissues. Autoantibodies: a antibody formed against our own cells or tissue components. Autoimmune disease: when our own immune system attacks us by producing groups of destructive lymphocytes and harmful antibodies against our own cells and tissues-causes organ damage. Also reason why body rejects transplanted organs and eliminates abnormal cells that arise randomly in cell division. The cells of immune system communicate and secrete soluble proteins chemical messengers. Those secreted by lymphocytes are called lymphokines and those secreted by monocytes are called monokines.
