ENT 601 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Motivation, Creativity
Document Summary
Creativity gets killed much more often then it gets supported. Creativity is undermined unintentionally every day in work environments. To foster an environment where business imperatives are met and creativity flourishes, requires us to understand what kinds of managerial practices foster creativity - and which kill it. Originality isn"t enough in business, to be creative an idea must also be appropriate and useful. A product must be improved and influenced by the way business gets done. Creative thinking refers to how people approach problems and solutions - their capacity to put existing ideas together in new combinations. Two types of motivation - extrinsic and intrinsic (being far more essential for creativity) Motivation makes the person do their job and attain something desirable or avoid something painful. Sometimes feels like a bribe or controlling factor. Intrinsic motivation is all about a person"s desire to do something - driven by passion and interest.
