Federal and provincial programs provide incentives to conserve energy; improvement in materials and consumer products (e. g. , energy star rated appliances: energy efficiency improving, but gains offset by bigger homes and larger population, working with climate. Works around climate and natural energy sources. Consideration of where on the planet you are to best suit your housing needs. How much over hang you have on your house, window placement etc: buildings can (should!) be oriented and designed to heat/cool interior space naturally, minimizing new resources. Trying to tear the building down and using those old materials.
