Homophobia and transphobia exist in all levels of society and within many family and societal contexts. Lgbtq people must navigate this terrain: a work in progress: There continues to be lots of misconceptions about lgbtq people and their connections to family life. Lgbtq people continue to challenge and confront the canadian state with regards to court challenges and legal representation and interpretations. Systemic homophobia continues to be very detrimental and divisive to lives of lgbtq families and their children. Understood to be hedonistic, narcissistic , unhappy, and alone. Treats heterosexuality as the only valid form of sexual behaviour. Supporting and encourages the shaming and poor treatment of lgbtq people and their families. These (cid:862)alter(cid:374)ative lifest(cid:455)les(cid:863) are see(cid:374) a(cid:374) i(cid:374)ferior to heterosexual marriage.
