Dynasty : family rules for certain period of time , there were many records of achievements from each of these dynasties. Colonialism : domination of culture, assertive effort to control the resources of a region by a foreign power, it has a cultural component, they trying to dismantle the culture of the place they are dominating. Folkloric dress: how dress is used as a signifier or symbol of national identity. Cross pollination: cultural exchange of goods, symbols, etc. Modern era : dev in culture, science, when lots of cross pollination occur. Contemporary era: right now, current day, 19 century onwards. New sensibility on concepts, aesthetics and functions of art. Shortening of their hair, wearing makeup in public. Was similar but not the same, it was the result of the new world order. Independence, boldness, women"s role was to represent the cultural identity (they did this thru fashion and dress) Art deco style dress, sleeveless, slits, tailoring.
