Must expand when stretched and recover to the original size when released. Hook and loop tape velcro invented by a swiss engineer who noticed how burrs clung to his dog"s fur and his clothing paired synthetic tape: one with hooks, one with loops, closed by pressure and opened by peeling. Trims and other enhancements (chapter 18) used to decorate, add value and function.
