Document Summary

Been working in the fashion industry since high school. If you have a client, it is important to keep the client . Worry about those 3 first, then worry about strategic partnerships. Fashion, art, and fierceness: the aesthetic regime, fashion and fierceness. What are aesthetics: social construction of visual appearance, shared in a cultural and historic moment. Process of transformation of the aesthetic regime: challenge the status quo, controversy (if there"s going to be change, there will be controversy, acceptance or rejection, new aesthetic regime. Changed the idea of very structured clothing, changed volume and proportion. Strategies to change the regime: appealing to logics of the regime, logics of commerce, logics of art, publicize innovations and impediments, allying with more powerful actors. The theory of fierceness: owning your space through aesthetics, breaking down limiting identity markers, proposing new, fluid, identity categories, often used by oppressed groups.
