Modernism: rejection of historicism, not looking at the past as a way to inspire current, favour unique approaches instead (cubism, fauvism, expressionism, surrealism all stem from this) The modern asian women : they maintained their tradition. Secularization: in cultures were islamic culture was present, separating the state from faith (adoption of western style dress in these countries was a result) Desecularization: it was a result of the cold war, revision back to tradition, unify again with the state. Abaya: form of dress that covers your whole body. Kameez - long sleeve tunic, interpretation of mens wear. Sherwani jacket : military style, tailored jacket, with mandarin collar, long to the knees with a side slit. Jodhpuri pants: tailored at the ankle, billow from the waist to the knees. Dhoti pants - (wore with western jacket) draped pants. Madras checks: striped going in opposite directions. Mao suit: mash up of uniform workwear and traditional smock, two pockets and buttons.
