212 views4 pages

Document Summary

The millennium development goals were a pledge to uphold the principles of human dignity, equality and equity, and free the world from extreme poverty. We have actually progressed greatly, but need to continue addressing the issues globally. Although the aggregate figures are a convenient way to track progress, the situation of individual countries within a given region may vary significantly from regional averages. Sometimes the responsible international agencies need to estimate values to fill data gaps. Data from international sources often differ from those available within countries. Sustainable: capable of being maintained in existence without interruption or diminution. Overusing the worse sustainable and sustainability makes them lose meaning and impact. We need to change our ways, and prepare the next generations for extreme hardships. Any environmental trend line can at least in theory be analyzed quantitatively through the lens of its likely impact on the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
