An infection of the intestine (due to a type of bacteria). Symptoms can be mild, not present or severe. Roughly 1 person in 20 picks up a symptom. A disease that roughly originated from the genghis river located in india. Note: most disease such as polio, aids, etc came from animals: domestic agriculture made the distribution of disease quite common. When severe, you are losing a lot of liquid from your body (dehydration): can loose 10% of your body weight within hours, can cause death due to the immense dehydration. The smaller your body is, the more deadly it is. Can get cholera through drinking water, food contamination (the source is often feces). Globally 6 major outbreaks of this disease. First outbreak occurred in 1832 within a town in england. John snow produced an important map (in 1854): the father of epidemiology (mapping of diseases from regional to national to international).
