If you live in the rural area, one might have to drive an hour to get to the closest hospitals: many wild animals running around in the rural areas, one may be attacked at night. Isolation makes it hard for someone to seek help if needed, not a huge variety of grocery stores/malls nearby, etc. Most people that inhabit the region didn"t really go there willingly. Australia was where prisoners were sent, while canada acted as a military front against the revolutionary americans. British settlers came and basically threw the people that originally lived there out of the country (spread influence) Settlers basically took control of the land, and tried to educate the aborigines. Settled in areas that had pleasant climate, close to trade areas. Did not leave in interior (due to extreme climates) Canada people lived in south bordering usa, and along the coast. Different type of locations (australia is mostly around coast)
