Some analysts estimate that oil will run out in 40 years. Developed countries which have about 20% of the world"s population consume four-fifths of energy. Developing countries with over 80% of the world"s population use only about one-fifth of energy. Proven reserves- are deposits that have already been discovered and can be extracted economically. Conditional reserves are deposits that have been discovered by they are not economically feasible to extract. Hypothetical resources are not currently known for certain but are likely to be found in the future. These are resources that are considered likely because of favorable geological conditions. Canada"s energy resources: fossil fuels, coal most abundant fossil fuel in the world, canada holds 6. 6 billion tonnes of proven reserves (china and us are the largest producers) Burned to generate 16% of canada"s electricity (40% of global electricity production) Canada has 25 operating mines in 2006.
