The basic rule for the learning curve is that it is based on the doubling of production. The learning curve effect states that time per repetition decreases as the number of repetition increases. There are three approaches to the learning curve. These will be discussed in the written notes. Learning the basic consideration in work/job design. Predict how learning will affect the task times and task costs. Breaking job to set of tasks -> breaking each task into a sequence of elements -> breaking each element into a sequence of motions. Human performance improves when activities are done repetitively. Time required to perform a task decreases with increased repetitions. Learning curves: the premise that people get better at their tasks as those tasks are repeated. Selection of the right tools and equipment. Amount of effort spent prior to the start of work. A constant percentage decrease in the time per unit. Tn = time for the nth unit.
