Mazin kanuga, 500395244, professor peter rambert, turnitin id: 601372944. Question 1: many competitive strategies were used by hbc before its sale to zucker and nrdc. The most important ones are growth strategy, diversification and divestiture. Competition forced hbc to employ a growth strategy to expand beyond from their hudson bay location to what would eventually become winnipeg, calgary and edmonton during the 1600s. The fur trade eventually ran its course and currency finally started evolving into the modern day cash system that we have now. Hbc shifted its focus to new settlers and expanded their existing product line in what is known as diversification. Two centuries later, unforeseeable economic conditions and competition forced hbc to return to their core business as part of their divestiture move. Question 2: since the sale to zucker and nrdc, hbc has employed strategic alliance, e- business strategy and a multi-domestic strategy.
