Coercive power is the capacity to punish or withhold posiive outcomes as a means of inluencing other power. Legiimate power is the capacity to inluence other people by virtue of formal authority, or the rights of the oice: there is also personal power: Expert power is the capacity to inluence other people because of specialized knowledge. Referent power is the capacity to inluence other people because of their desire to idenify personally with you. It is derived from charisma or interpersonal atraciveness. Some key behaviors of leaders include: drive, self-conidence, creaivity, cogniive ability, job-relevant knowledge, moivaion, flexibility, honesty and integrity. Believes that successful leaders adjust their style based on the situaion. This results in four leadership styles: delegaing allowing group to task responsibility for decisions. The path-goal theory created recogniion for subsitutes of leadership.
