Approximately 70% of the human body is comprised of water. An average person needs 2-5 litres of water per day, including all beverages and food sources. The amount of water a person needs per day depends on the size and physical condition of the person, the amount of physical exercise, and the environmental temperature and humidity. Globally, one in eight people does not have access to drinkable fresh water. Often have to use water contaminated with disease or unacceptable levels of toxins or suspended solids. Drinking or using such water in food preparation leads to widespread acute and chronic illnesses and is a major cause of death and misery in many countries.
