GRA202 LAB REVIEW Brushes 1. Create your own brush by selecting drop down menu > create new brush 2. No fill associated with a brush everything is adjusted by the stroke 3. Convert brush strokes to outline paths>Object>Expand Appearance 4. Draw brush simultaneously>Select brush in brush library>Paint Brush Tool 5. Scatter brush – doesn‟t follow exact path, disperse copies of object along the path 6. Calligraphic brush – follows exact center of the path, creates strokes of calligraphic pen 7. Pattern brush – paints a pattern, repeats along exact center of path pattern brush vs. scatter brush Symbols 1. Create a shape or path >drag it to the symbols panel to create a new symbol 2. Symbols take up less space in the file size 3. To modify components of instance, must expand it (breaks links convert to regular artwork) Object>Expand 4. Instance – linked to symbols panel/drag symbol onto artboard (better than copying&pasting) 5. Isolation mode – double click/ESC to exit mode 6. Symbol sprayer – one single instance on the fly 7. Symbol scruncher – scrunches symbols closer/ hold OPTION to spread 8. Symbol screener - creates transparencies within symbols 9. [ – decreases size of radius 10. ] – increases size of radius Layers & Clipping Masks 1. Disclosure triangle – to open layers in one layer 2. Dialogue Box – layers show print, preview, lock, template 3. Targeting circle – selects given path 4. Hold Shift – select multiple paths together 5. Command „G‟ – groups objects together (still can edit individual paths in isolation mode) 6. Flatten Layer>Flatten Artwork from Layers panel menu 7. Merge Layer – select layers (Shift>Merge Selected) 8. Change order of layers> drag on top of one another in layer panel 9. Hide layers by clicking “eye” button 10. Columns: visibility, edit, target, selection 11. Move object to different layer Object>Arrange>Send to Current Layer 1. The shape on top will become the frame of the clipping mask 2. To create the clipping mask select Object> Clipping mask > Make 3. To release clipping mask, right click>Release select path 4. Clipping mask object whose shape masks other artwork so that areas within the shape are visible. 5. Only vector objects can be clipping masks Esko Artwork 1. Window > EskoArtwork > Studio Tool Kit for boxes>Create Basic Box 2. View it as a 3D or 2D box 3. It saves as an .ARD file (Artios CAD file) – structured file 4. Window > Esko Artwork>Studio Designer >Show Studio (views design in 3D) 5. Dynamic QR Code (Quick Response) Window>EskoArtwork > Dynamic Barcode > Select QR (Barcode Type) – 100%K, 0%, 0%, 0% 6. Create 3D PDF Studio Designer>Export>PDF file w/ 3D Design>Save As (must open in Acrobat/Reader to view 3D Esko Labels 1. Create half a bottle using the pen tool 2. Select that path 3. Select Window> Esko Artwork >Studio toolkit for labels Revolve and add labels 4. It automatically saves as a .dae file (structure
