LAB 1: Illustrator Introduction -File- New- Art boards ( you can have as many art boards as you would like -purpose of IL (create illustrations, vector artwork) -Art-board- have multiple art boards in the same time -create all things in one same document -you could save as an individual or one document Spacing -space between Artboards Raster Effect -always high resolution 300 dpi for print -pixel for web Shortcut -Command R-ruler -Space+Mouse- move screen (hand tool) How you know which art board is selected -dark thick black frame Artboard Tool- (you can resize, move around, change sizes and rename them) Artboard Pannel- change it,more precisely with accuracy *You can have 100 boards at most (1-100) How to get out of Artboard mode- Click on any tool *Navigator tool- which and where in the document you are. Up to 6400 zoom LAB 2: single click- just place your cursor double click- selects the whole word triple click-seleects a whole line How to Bring Txt into InDesign -file-place-enable-chose a file -this will allow you to place text stair from a document If you want to use the same Typeface type-recent fonts (all fonts used in this document) - you can also type the name of the font in the character panel and it finds it for u Type-Glyphs- shows all the glyphs for that specific typeface -double click to apply the glyph -if you click and hop, you will get more options only with the arrow Trojan Pro has lots of glyphs Checking Spelling in Illustrator- Command I (you have to click start) Swatch Library Menu- Option and Suggested Swatches Transperancy Pannel -increasing or decreasing opacity (illustrator) -adding tint (Indesign) -the more transparent the more you can see through. (smaller dot if it's transparent) How to crate a Pattern Swatch -we can fill into shape -highlight tool -drag and drop to swatches -make rectangle and click on the pattern you made LAB 3: •our eyes take the time to adjust to colour •Color Uncovered App*download it •File-Place or command D is the short cut •Select the Image (Live Trace)- Made up of pixels and it will turn it into a vector image with lines •Tracing Options Dialogue Box- Refine our live trace •Threshold- Adjust it to see what happens (Everything above that level should turn into a black pixel and everything below should be white) • You can add colour to the picture and you have a vector image that you can resize it. You can;t adjust the threshold mode when you ave colour • Expand-The components of the vector • Object-Expand (If you hover over the image you can see different part of the colour) • Direct Selection Tool- We can change the colour by selecting with Live Paint • Live Paint- (K) or Shape Builder Tool - we can cil in colour of the image with any colour we want • Swatches Panel- If you are using a live paint bucket you have three swatches panel (move between colours with the arrow keys) • You can make it editable and use paint bucket to change colour with the Live Trace Mode LAB 5: Gradient- moving from one clot to another colour Gradient Mesh- You can create multi point gradients. You can turn seemly flat shapes and make them look 3D with highlights and shadows. - It is a grid that bends and wives - Finessing a 2D image into something that looks more like a 3D image -Round objects are very good with gradient tools STEPS: -Objects- Create Gradient Mesh - Micro gradience- creating and making each point have its own gradient -Shortcut to direct selection tool is A Liquify tools- set of tools that are destructive editing -under the width tool -we need to make sure it is not an instance so we have to break up the object to have its own anchor points and paths in order to be able to use the liquify tools -work tool- you can manipulate an object by pulling in corners to make it look droopy -Twirl tool- you can twirl a specific ares * you can double click on any of these tools and a window will pop up, where you have options like rate, detail, height, width. -Pucker tool- it puckers up an area -Bloat Tool- It will expand an area that you are working with -Scalap tool- You bring the shape inward -Critializer tool- Bring it outwards Wrinkle Tool- wrinkles your design. LAB 6: Esko Artwork -design packaging but design on top of boxes -Window-Esko Artwork- Studio Toolkit for Boxes-Create a basic box- Continue- Save on. It will by default open in illustrator
