Document Summary

In the past, foil stamping was done with gold. Foil stamping and embossing add foil stamping or embossing to a non-printed sheet, it is called blind foil stamping/ blind embossing. Foil stamping and embossing is done at the last step because if embossing was done first before laminating then air pockets will occur, heat will damage the foil stamping, or the embossing will become flat. If laminating is done before foil stamping/embossing, foil stamp goes on top of the laminate and the embossing will emboss through the laminate and the actual substrate: embossing involves pressing a die into a substrate and involves heat. The difference between embossing and debossing is that embossing gives a raised image. If there it is a right combination and the substrate that you are foil stamping if flat, you can get a surface foil stamp. Surface foil stamp does not involve a lot of pressure, just enough is used to have the foil stick.
