A war happens in between ww1 and ww2. Interwar period tries to make sense of the war that was and the new ideologies that have been brought up from ww1. Intelligence agencies have to keep up with everything. There were a lot of anti war sentiments. Pacifist movements occur and especially in democracies, particularly women. The pacifist ideas have bleed into the government ties and resulted in the government signing a treaty in 1928, exemplifying the power of pacifists. Most people go through 3 different reactions when they go through trauma, either (1) depression, or (2) depression and then try to endure and survive, (3) apathy, no feeling and died without knowing it. Most people have lost someone due to the war. This dichotomy (two events happening at the same time) is the reason why the nazis come to power and why many become pacifists. In the 1930s the nazi germans leverage this to come to power.
