The company had grown to include over 100 merchants across toronto and is a free application for ios and android users. The smoothpay application would work by accepting major cards such as visa, mastercard, amx, visa debit and paypal. After the users attach their payment cards to their account they would be able to use their phone to make payments. The mobile app company is entering a global market and is having difficulty attracting the mass consumer audience. The mobile payment industry is emerging very slowly, this slow process of entering the market has only reached 25% of the consumers. The payment system is only available for a small subset of population. Only 30% of overall point-of-sale devices support this technology, although 80% are able to support it.
