Class notes - lighting design for commercial spaces. Induction lamps - similar to fluorescent, but rated for 100,000 hours - parking garages, warehouses. Incandescent worst 10 50 lumens per watt. Fluorescent 40-100 lumens per watt cfl lamps have lower efficacy than linear fluorescents. Metal halide 35- 100 lumens per watt - compact metal halide have lower efficacy than large metal halide. High pressure sodium 31-127 lumens per watt. Led - 60 lumens per watt - similar to compact fluorescent: efficacy is an important factor in aesthetics, cost, and energy efficiency, the ontario building code dictates the power density limits for spaces. Lighting controls that include occupancy sensors also improve energy efficiency & save more than daylight harvesting: make sure when selecting luminaries that you check the building voltage.
