In mesopotamia, there aren"t a lot of building stone so a lot of architecture didn"t survive. The emergence of writing due to debts having to be paid. However, egypt had stone (aka the pyramids) All periods in mesopotamia: 3500-500 bc (all of the continuities rather than the differences) A relief sculpture was painted, however it is gone. Smart history: this is an interesting sculpture because it shows us where it is. Not quite naturalistic, but because of the mountain and the sky. The most important person is the biggest (the big cheese principle) Conceptual representation: what we see is an optical representation. Taken that she is wearing a wig. Sculptures were painted, so the ivories of the eyes were stolen (there was something there) The eyebrows are carved in, so compared to other things, it probably had some other expensive material in it as well. Bottom half is naturalistic, but exaggerated eyes is what one notices in terms of scale.
