RTA 920 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Medium Shot, Lavalier Microphone
Document Summary
Make sure your subject is comfortable and that any shift of movement is not going to create any sound listen carefully and make notes of any follow-up questions. Allow the subject to speak freely and finish their though. Ask for clarification if what is said is not clear. Get subject to answer in a complete self-contained sentence. Ask them to repeat the answer in the question (e. g. what is your practice- my practice is ) this helps when you get to editing. Make the background as clean and clear as you can so that there is nothing distracting. Be very aware of shot composition- use a medium shot to cu show (or ls if you want to place the subject in a particular environment) Have the subject look at you but not directly in the camera. Position yourself as close to the camera as you can get to get the right eye line.
