Planned change: change that is intentional and goal-oriented activity. Unplanned change: change that is imposed on the organization and is often unforeseen: managers must be prepared to handle both. It is about understanding the nature and process of change to be able to enhance your effectiveness by identifying your sphere of influence your 15% solution that part of the whole within your control. Managing change is not the same thing as project management or change management. The hard truths about change: change is hard! It"s hard to manage, its hard to lead, and, its hard to go through: change is expensive! There are significant costs involved in the planning, implementing, and getting up to speed: change takes time! People want to be on the other side of the change, but to get there you have to go through it, and one way or another there are no shortcuts. That is one reason so many change initiatives fail!
