Study of biochemical and physiological effects of drugs on the body: what drugs do to the body & how they do it. Drug effect depends on cell or tissue targeted. Can modify the strength at which cell or tissue functions. Drug receptors : in order for a drug to modify a cell function, there must be a receptor. A drug can only attach to a receptor site for which it displays an affinity. Drugs and receptors fit like a lock and key so only certain drugs fit in one receptor.
