Document Summary

Plato is the first person to write philosophy in the way that people actually speak as opposed to in a poetic manner. Gives us the ability to reconstruct and deconstruct his work. The world of the sense is an imperfect world; looking to this world for answers will never give you answers as it"s always changing. Sophists always changing their views and opinions as they don"t want to be seen as not knowing - always trying to find what is right. The world of the sense has no permanence; it is the rational reflection which will gives us answers, rather than looking at material things that constantly change. You cannot believe is something you find out to be true; you cannot believe in something you find out to be false. The world of belief is over when faced with knowledge. This approach is seen in the symposium in regards to love and beauty. Love of the beauty of the soul.
