Kieran"s view: pornography can be art (though most of it isn"t) Examples of art that are pornographic but also artistic. The dream of the fisherman"s wife (1941) hokusai. Colour, shade, line artistically interesting and original approach. All of this artistic stuff can be going on while also fulfilling a pornographic purpose. Kieran this is not the case. Art doesn"t always have to tell us about the human condition. Example] escher, ascending and descending: doesn"t really give us insight to the present world, nevertheless, it is still considered a work of art and this is not disputed like pornography is, not a deep psychological insight. The appreciation argument: no body can appreciate a work with both of the aims of arousal and artistic pleasure, 1. Appreciating something as art requires viewing it wish an artistic interest: 2. Appreciating something as pornography requires viewing it with a pornographic interest: 3. So, it isn"t possible to appreciate something as pornographic art.
