Can only give their labour to sell must use it and give it away in order to get what they need. Need to trade labour for other things. Comes into existence after the bourgeoisie has taken over as main force in economy. Situation gets worse and worse to the point where it must be changed. Has agglomerated population, centralised means of production, and has concentrated property in few hands (163) Don"t own any thing except their things. As an ideology: people should not own slaves. There is not a you should known own proletariats as an ideology. There would not be proletarians if there were not a means of production/consumption in order to sell so you have to do labour.
