In our interpretation we take disregard of negation, and pick out the subject matter with association (doctor/patient example) Interpretation dreams (things you experience can be repressed into your unconscious) Judgment: one"s observation and interpretation of a situation. Reality principle: as you grow up [and get a sense of reality] you learn accepting pain (or pleasure) is sometimes good. The simple judgment is the pleasure principle, but deciding whether it is positive or negative is the reality principle. Reality principle can lead to repression, which is the connection with negation. It is impossible to think both a thought and its negation . It"s wrong to describe negation as affirmation of the opposite.
