1956 Steichen became the curator at the Museum of Modern Art - Family of Man exhibition was one of the largest and most viewed - This exhibition was written about in an article in 1958 - The exhibition was about being all alike The Family of Man - Shown many portraits to depict the many different kinds of people - Wants to depict how everyone poses the same way and has the same bland expression - Incredibly sexist - Takes 2 million down to 10 thousand and then down to 503 photos - The exhibition opened in 1955 and then divided between 10 sets and began to travel the world - This was to formulate a different point of view - All of the photographs had a clear different identify state as to how they identified the population William Klein did military service Then studied painting for quite a while to later return with his wife to the US Staye
