Philosophical, political struggle and competition between usa and soviet union (two most powerful countries), they had different views about what the world should be like. Soviet union wants communism, collective rights, said they believed in democracy but had a repressive society. The reaso(cid:374) (cid:449)hy its (cid:272)alled (cid:858)(cid:272)old (cid:449)ar(cid:859) is because they never really fought, never actually confronted each other. Towards the end of the war and everybody knew the nazis were going down. The americans got a little annoyed and saw this as an expansion of the soviet union. Nato is to stop soviet expansion and then eastern europe did something similar. This was kind of like a denial that everything would end. Space race: russians were the first in space, first man to go out in space. Ussia(cid:374)s did(cid:374)(cid:859)t ha(cid:448)e the (cid:373)o(cid:374)ey to (cid:449)aste o(cid:374) sending someone to the moon, giving american an advantage over them.
