Water and environment issues in the third world. Ecology: ecology is not the same as the environment or environmental science. Bioengineering: arguably reducing diversity, once these species begin to pollinate, you have one set of dominate genes that go through their blood lines. For example, monsanto is reducing biodiversity with their seeds. Countries like mexico, south asian ones were experimenting with the green revolution (gmo"s) and what this did was it used the hybrid seed technology. This put 2 different kinds of plants together to increase production and have them grow faster. Started first with corn, then went with rice. They found that this does increase production but this also requires a lot of water and fertilizer and pesticides. In india there is a movement to increase biodiversity and to not use seeds from the big mne"s. This is being done to reduce the effect that some of these seeds have done on the past.
