Office hours: wednesday and friday (10-11) by appointment. Learning apa style (10%) and writing style: write it up well, even if idea isn"t the best. Pretend that you"re actually running this study on people. Midterm- more focused on what he goes over in class. To do well- prove to the ta, through examples, that you understand the concepts (not just memorization). Will be themes in lectures on written questions (pay attention to what he talks about for a while). Not intuitive- scientific methods to prove why people act the way they do (controlled experiments) Polygraph: test that measures arousal indicators (sweating, heart rate). Naive realism: the belief that we see the world precisely as it is. Making assumptions because they"re intuitive (seeing is believing) E. g. guy yelling at barista (because his mom died that morning) The scientific study of the mind, brain, and behaviour. Attempt: to understand, predict, and sometimes control human behaviour.
