Chapter 1: de ning of social psychology: the scienti c study of how individuals think, feel, behave in a social context. Scienti c study applies scienti c method or systemic observation. Social psy concerns people"s private, non-conscious beliefs, attitudes and their most passionate emotions. Humans need social interaction in order to survive. Social characteristics evolve in order to better ourselves we do things for a reason. You need to put yourself in someone else"s position in order to see it from their perspective. We are the sum of our experiences . We act due to the situations we are in or the sum of situations we have experiences. Appreciating the environment and how they shape our behaviour. Classifying anything within a certain category based on appearance or stereotype. In and of themselves are not bad because it is easier for interactions. They are adaptive confederates: people who are in on the study and act as if they are not.
