Your grandmother believes that part of her body is missing and cries about this missing part all day long. A woman"s husband dies within the past year. A 10-year old wants to have his entire body tattooed: depending the way the child grows up; if he grew up with everyone in his family household having a tattoo it could be normal. Psychopathology (mental illness) is often seen as a failure of adaptation to the environment. Failure analysis approach tries to understand mi by examining breakdowns in functioning. Mental disorder does not have a clear cut definition. Not a strict indicator of mental illness: biological dysfunction could play a part in mental illness but it is not always the case. Ex. someone who has a fear of dogs it may come from a traumatic experience from when they were younger.
