Wholeness: can"t be broken into parts, must view the whole, emergent properties idea need whole system analysis as you lose pieces if you break it apart, chemical structure h20 (oxygen and hydrogen only if broken) Family values: made up of rules, roles, boundaries, subsystems in nuclear and family of origin, values: education, good partner, wealth, therapist must consider families values & their own.
