Document Summary

This disorder has a lot of continuity (as children grow up) Most costly mental health problem in north america. Developmental pathways based on timing of symptom onset. Child onset (life course persistent: mild conduct problems in preschool, severity increases throughout childhood and adolescence, likely to demonstrate continued delinquency in adulthood. Getting a criminal record in adolescence hinders there ability to move smoothly into adulthood. Overt pathway, covert pathway, authority conflict pathway. Each pathway has 3 stages (ranging in severity) Categories of symptoms that clump together: we can look at it as categorical (cd and odd) or continuum (how much and how severe are the symptoms) Status offences: illegal activity when committed by a certain age group. Aggressive is more strongly linked to genetics. Aggressive seems to paternally decrease with age. Rule-breaking: low when young, increases at adolescence then decreases again. Must consider what would be normative in relation to the age of the individual.
