Usually creativity in psychology involves 3 qualities: There is an issue tho because quality is subjective. In spite of this, experts agree in ratings of creativity. Usually ppl think of artistic things when they think of creativity. Psychologists see it as science, technology, design, invention. Doesnt have to be a big accomplishment. Pro-c: being creative for a living, but not famous for it. Cross-cultural psychology: recognizes individualist and collectivist cultures and how they vary. Difference between individualist cultures and collectivist cultures is the significance of goals of individuals versus a group. Western societies - sees creativity as coming from individual characteristics. Eastern societies - see creativity as coming from individual influence on society. Opposed to a more rational thinking process. Convergent thinking: thinking that works towards finding a single solution to a problem. Divergent thinking: thinking that is open minded and have many possible solutions. Creative problem solving strategy in which similarities are noted between 2 or more situations.
