Instructor doesn"t care why people come in for therapy, the vast majority end up talking about relationships (romantic is number one, but it can be familial, employment related, etc. A way of determining your implicit biases. The test was created with good intentions. Used to punish people; people who do poorly are told that they need to do training, which costs money. Used in a lot of peer-reviewed journals yet there is no good science behind it. There is no validity to the retraining; in fact, there is evidence that there are reverse effects of training, that people are more upset/discriminating afterwards. There was virtually no correlation among the seven implicit tests of self-esteem; which means maybe they were all assessing something important, but not the same thing, otherwise there would be high correlation. Implicit self-esteem; narcissist display extremely high explicit self-esteem, but in reality have low-implicit self-esteem, which is associated with many problems.
