An overview of depression and mania: mood disorders (cid:862)depressi(cid:448)e disorders(cid:863) (cid:862)affecti(cid:448)e disorders(cid:863) (cid:862)depressi(cid:448)e neuroses(cid:863) Gross deviations in mood: large global changes in mood. All have depression: major depressive episode. Anhedonia: loss of pleasure activities that were pleasurable. Period of time of which person having these symtopms: mania. Person that in so extreme excited grandiosity: hypomanic episode. Gross deviation in mood but in positive way. Only experience one pole/side of a disorder. Like only depression rarely: bipolar mood disorder. Like swinging from low mood and high mood. Alternate between depression and mania by time like 2 month mania then depression: mixed features. Experience of both, e. g. manic but feel somewhat depressed at same time. Mix of both above one is dominant usually.
